The 2026 Shanghai Typhoon Collaborative Research Fund (STCRF) from the Asia-Pacific Typhoon Collaborative Research Center (AP-TCRC) is now open to the world. The priority research areas for funding are 1) TC structure and intensity change and associated impacts; 2) Subseasonal, seasonal, and climate-scale prediction for landfalling TCs; and 3) TC early warning multidisciplinary research. Detailed information on the fund can be found in the International Tropical Cyclone Collaborative Research Guide (Attachment 1). The guide covers both long-term (1 year, could be extended) and short-term (2-3 months) studies.
The AP-TCRC is an international joint typhoon research unit located in the Lingang Special Area of Shanghai, China. It is supported by the ESCAP/WMO Typhoon Committee and hosted by the Shanghai Municipal Government of China and the China Meteorological Administration (a detailed introduction can be found at https://ap-tcrc.org). We are looking forward to having you join us.
If selected, funding will be allocated to cover the following expenses: airfare, accommodation, and the Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA).
If you are interested in collaboratively-working at AP-TCRC to carry out the funded research, please refer to the “Priority Funding Missions for 2026” in the Guide, and send your Curriculum Vitae, Application Form (Attachment 2), and the Consent to Collection and Use of Personal Information (Attachment 3) to the email address: [email protected] before 31 March 2026*.
