Twelve internationally renowned scientists from six countries joined the first International Scientific Steering Committee of the AP-TCRC. They contributed to the preliminary future development plan of the AP-TCRC, the work plan for 2023, and the International Tropical Cyclone Collaborative Research Guide (2023-2025), and gave final expert advice. It is reported that the Guideline will be released globally and scientists from all over the world will be invited to carry out collaborative scientific research.
In the future, the AP-TCRC will focus on conducting joint research on major scientific and technological issues of typhoon prevention and mitigation in the Asia-Pacific region through various means, such as the International Typhoon Joint Research Project, and will organize collaborative scientific research, especially in response to the weaknesses of developing countries in the region in terms of typhoon prevention and mitigation.
In addition, the AP-TCRC will also actively deepen the synergistic cooperation with disaster prevention and mitigation related departments and enterprises and institutions, and join hands with international innovation partners to gradually improve the level of disaster prevention and mitigation in the Asia-Pacific region, enhance the international influence of China's science and technology, and promote the development of related industries.
Furthermore, the AP-TCRC will give full play to the policy dividends of the Shanghai Overseas Talent Settlement Policy, the Free Trade Zone Permanent Residence Recommendation Through Train System, and the Lingang Talent Rental/Housing Policy to attract and train domestic and foreign high-end scientific research talents in the field of typhoon research.
