Introduction
Dr. Xiaoyang Li works at the Institute of Industrial Science, the University of Tokyo. His expertise covers tropical-cyclone dynamics, extreme-weather-and-climate modelling, hydro-meteorological simulations and disaster-impact assessment.
Visiting details
Under the Shanghai Typhoon Collaborative Research Fund, Dr Li visited AP-TCRC from 26 September to 26 November 2025. The two-month stay focused on:
- typhoon predictability;
- multi-scale air–sea interactions;
- prediction and impact assessment of typhoon-induced secondary hazards.
The collaboration aims to refine APTCRC’s high-resolution disaster-impact forecasting techniques and to strengthen regional early-warning capacity.
